Installation

Installation of this programme is quick and very simple. After the initial use of the programme it will load automatically each time you use it once the disc is inserted. It can also be started via the desktop where the icon then appears. The speed at which it launches at makes it very suitable for classroom use. The help language can be selected and can be altered to suit each user.

Navigation

Eurotalk interactive is simple to use and accessible to all levels of computer competency. No additional documentation accompanies this title and, quite frankly, is unnecessary. The introductory sequence is brief and easily bypassed. The user needs only to follow the on-screen instructions. Help icons are permanently present and are easily used. The title records individual progress and allows the user to constantly build on their result from one session to another. A user score is visible and updated at the end of each section allowing the student to monitor his or her linguistic development. It is possible to record numerous user’s results which are displayed at the start of each new session. One drawback however is the inability to allow multiple users keep score simultaneously.

Documentation

There is no support documentation for this title. It would be useful to have additional worksheets, but it is certainly not essential, as this is an introduction to the language. The ease of loading and navigation means that the user does not feel this lack of support and my experience of using the software leads me to believe that support documentation is in fact unnecessary.
