March News.

Many thanks to the Parent's association who organised a fantastic cookery demonstration in the Radisson Hotel on the 4th of February.It was a most enjoyable evening and proved to be a very successful venture.A special thank you to the three chefs on the night -Joe Shannon,Ian Flanagan and Ger Reidy.The school has been presented with a new network printer from the proceeds of the evening.Thank you for all the support


Congratulations to all the boys and girls who have participated in the community games events to date and have performed so well in the art and modelling competitions.There were also many winners in the Feis Ceoil Art Competition.Well done everyone.

An art exhibition took place in the hall on Tuesday the 24th of March.All the pupils work was framed and parent's were given the opportunity to buy their child's work.There was a great display of colour with a variety of styles,mediums and techniques used to show case the art works.

Sports .

Students from the I.T in Sligo have begun football coaching .Over the twelve week period the children's skills in Gaelic Football will be developed and the children are once again enjoying the variety of games and drills each week.

Our hurling coach John Mullins continues to coach the children from third to sixth class each Wednesday and there is an opportunity for children to stay on a Thursday afternoon for extra football,hurling and games.In addition after Easter on a Tuesday(beginning the 21st of April) children from fourth class upwards can stay for table tennis lessons.Thank you to Mr O'Sullivan and Mr Brennan for organising these activities.

Swimming lessons will begin after Easter for the children in fifth class in the Yeats County Hotel.

Dates for your diary.

Two very important days are coming up for the children in second and sixth classes.Second class are busy preparing for their First Holy Communion on Saturday the 16th of May at 11 o'clock.The following Thursday the 21st of May the children in sixth calss will receive the sacrament of Confirmation.This ceremony will take place in St. Colmcille's church Rathcormack at 4pm.
