Supression of Post

Thanks to all the parents who returned the petition requesting that the Dept. of Education and Science defer the decision to suppress the post of one of our staff. The issue has been raised with many of our local representatives and has also been brought to the attention of the Minister for Education. An appeal is to be lodged with the department within the next two weeks.

Parents can help our campaign by contacting their local representatives on a continual basis, either by phone or e-mail. Indeed many parents have been highlighting our plight and we have received various correspondences from our T.D.s and senators.

Once again we would like to thank you most sincerely for your support.

lnternational Year of the Potato
3rd and 6th Class Project

This world wide celebration is aimed at raising awareness of the importance of the potato. Its an opportunity to raise awareness of the benefits of the potato in the Irsh diet.

3rd and 6th classes are entering a Spud Growing Competition. Every day the pupils are measuring and watering their spuds. The potatoes are called "colleens".

Our classes are keeping a diary in a scrap book on how our potato plants are getting on. The classes are also taking photographs as a record. We are enjoying the project very much.

Partnership with pupils from St Cecilias School
On Wednesday some pupils from St Cecilia's School visited us for a joint games session in the hall. They worked with 6th Class and we all had a great time playing with the new PE equipment. This is hopefully the start of regular weekly sessions together, a two way communication programme where we all learn to appreciate each other's strengths and needs.
