Children's Book Week 2009.

We were delighted to accept an invitation from Sligo Library to attend two workshops on Friday the 23rd of October in the library in town.Fifteen children from sixth class attended a two hour creative writing workshop with Irish author David Donohue.David is the author of three childrens books.The main character in his books is a boy named Walter Speazlebud who can spell backwards.Walter sets out on many adventures including time travel.David amazed the group with his own ability to say and spell their names backwards and then challenged the children to spell animal name backwards.Not an easy feat!
At one o'clock fifty children from third and fourth classes arrived for storytelling and David read excerpts from his book called Moon Man.Both groups really enjoyed their visit to the library.
