Archives > School year 2009/10

National Fire Safety Week 2010.

In conjunction with fire safety week the children from fifth class paid a visit to Sligo Fire Station. There they were joined by pupils from other local schools. The children were greeted by a team of firemen who showed them all their fire fighting equipment, the different fire engines in the station ,their special protective clothing and breathing apparatus .They explained the time line from when they receive a call to the engine leaving the station. The class were very impressed not alone with the expertise of the firemen but also the equipment they have available to them. They realised that alot can be done to prevent fires and they have launched a poster campaign around the school to heighten other children's awareness of fire safety.Ms Haran and the pupils in fifth class would like to thank all the staff in Sligo Fire Station for a great morning.
