Happy New Year 2010.
We were delighted to welcome all our pupils and staff back to school after the long cold spell over Christmas and wish everyone the very best for 2010.
Once again we had a busy start to the new year but the main focus for us was fund raising for the victims of the Haitian earthquake .Mrs Power and Ms McEnroe co-ordinated the activities and it was decided to have a book sale for the children and coffee morning for the parents and local community. This took place on Friday the 29th January. Each child generously contributed five books and fourth class sorted the books each morning and were in charge of all sales on the day.The Brady Family brought in a large jar of sweets and the girls raised over €100 on this activity alone with all classes joining in the fun of guessing the number of sweets.
A cheque for €1864 was presented to Clodagh Murray.Clodagh will be travelling to Haiti in April and her associated charity hope to help build houses, schools and also help with medical advise.Clodagh promised to visit the school on her return with photographs of her visit to Haiti.
Spring arrives at last!
The first day of February was marked once again with the traditional making of St Brigid's crosses in many classes around the school.Once again the "buddy system" worked to great effect with the children from fifth and sixth classes helping the children in the junior rooms.
