The 19th of November was a very special day for third class, when a group of musicians came to their classroom for a workshop in traditional Irish music. The children had prepared by listening to reels and jigs based on tunes famous in the Sligo area. They played percussion instruments, danced, wrote short stories based on the theme of magical instruments and also painted beautiful pictures. On the day the children enjoyed the talents of Junior Davy,Colm O'Donnell,Fiona Doherty and PJ Heron who played a wide variety of instruments for them. They are looking forward to the next group of musicians in the new year.

Budget 2008.
The budget on the 14th of October caused outrage amongst principals teachers and parents alike when a large list of cuts were announced. They will seriously affect every school in the country including rathcormack by raising class size- and stopping substitute cover for all uncertified sick leave will mean that classes will be split to create even larger classes. The cuts highlighted are just a few. This comes after all the campaigning done by both parents and teachers before the elections and the promises given by the government then.Last September we lost a teacher and if the government continue to attack primary education we may loss another teacher in the coming years. This will mean children in large split classes with very limited access to support teachers.
Is this what we want for our children?
We urge all parents to get involved in the campaign.lobby our local TD's,senators and councillors. All our local politicians need to be told that these cuts are unacceptable. They need to feel the heat.!E-mail them, phone them ,arrange to meet them.local councillors will be looking for your vote next Junr-ask them to support primary school children.
The INTO have organised a rally in Donegal Town on Saturday the 29th of November and we would like as many parents as possible to attend this protest meeting. The children can't speak out for themselves. We must be their voices. The minister says cut back but we say fight back. Please support this campaign
