September/October 2011.
We were delighted to welcome twenty nine children into our Junior Infant class this September. The children all settled very quickly into their daily school routine with playtime a special favourite!Once again our Infant and Learning Support teachers held a meeting on Thursday night 22nd Sept at 7.30pm to explain the reading programme in the school to the children's parents. The main emphasis was on the Jolly Phonics programme and the importance of reading with your child was highlighted.
The children enjoyed their first school trip together with our Senior Infants when they visited the Sligo County Library and Deirdre Cooke's optician's .In the opticians they learned of the importance of eyecare ,the foods which are essential for good eye-sight and the children all received worksheets specially prepared for them by Deirdre Cooke's.They saw the process of an eye test and how lens were made.Thank you to Ms Coggins for organising this very successful outing.

Hospice Coffee Day Wednesday the 26th of October 2011.
It has become a tradition in the school to host a coffee morning in the hall in aid of our local charity The Northwest Hospice .Each year we receive a fantastic selection of home baking and we would like to thank all the parents and children for all the effort put into this event. Sixth class pupils helped throughout the day as each class came to the hall for the goodies and the laughter , chatter and chocolate covered faces! were evidence of the enjoyment had by all.
A special word of thanks to Anne,Dolores and Margaret for all their help .There was a huge crowd of parents and neighbours in for lunch and €1161.38 was raised on the day for this very worthy charity.
