Science Fun for sixth class.

Mrs O' Boyle set the class the challenge to design and build a car which was to be powered by air.The winning car would be the vehicle which travelled the furthest in the hall.The children were not allowed to use any parts from commercially made toys and were to use as many re - cycled products as possible.The children had to think about the size and weight of the car,the size and shape of the balloon they would use,the size of the wheels and so on.There was a huge variety of cars produced and some very fancy vehicles with even a few feathers and glitter decorating them.The atmosphere in the hall on the day was fantastic as each group set up their car for the race. Loud cheers greeted some groups while some groups were disappointed with their result.It was a very enjoyable project for the class and who knows with the price of fossil fuels maybe someone from the class will be inspired to develop an alternative system in the future!
