Cumann na mBunscol 2009-2010.

Rathcormac boys and girls took part in various competitions through out the year.Our school won a county Cumann na mBunscol "Fair Play" award for the 8 plus teacher competition.This is a credit to the sporting behaviour shown by our players.
Our boys narrowly missed out on an appeareance in the county final having lost their semi-final in extra time to Ballymote N.S. Mr O' Rourke would like to thank all the children involved for their efforts this year.

Sports day 15th June .

Our annual sports day organised by sixth class took place on Tuesday the 15th of June.Once again the children enjoyed a huge variety of activities such as egg and spoon races,penalty shots,basketball matches,water relay,sack races and a few new activities -balloon stamp, summer themed volley ball and of course the ever popular tug of war.We would like to thank Gerry and Sonia Gilmartin who sponsored the inflatable obstacle course and bouncy castles,Angela and Damien Davis who provide lunch for all the children from Davis's Restaurant and Sarah Nicholson for all the refreshments served all day.

We are extremely grateful to Charlie and Sylvia Bacon who once again this year provided all our classes with a butterfly kit. The science experiment started with each class placing a tiny caterpillar into an individual pot with a food supply.Amazing over two weeks the caterpillars grew and developed into chrysalis forms before being transfered into their butterfly habitat .Each day the children watched at close range the emergance of the adult butterflies before their release in our school grounds on a glorious June afternoon.
