Family Fun Science.
On Wednesday the 10th of November we were delighted to welcome staff from Abbott's to our school hall where they hosted an evening of science based tasks focusing on members of a family working together.Parents and children worked together to design a container for popcorn, collect evidence to prove or disprove statements which focused on sound, light and magnetism. The staff also highlighted the wide variety of careers from engineers to IT ,research and development to secretarial roles which are available in a company such as Abbott. This evening was extremely well supported by the pupils and parents of third and fourth class and we would like to thank Sinéad in Abbotts for organising this event.

Armagh Planetarium.
Following on from our evening of Family Science fun the pupils of third and fourth class left the school before 9am on Tuesday the 23rd of November to travel to Armagh for our first visit to the Planetarium. On arrival the children enjoyed a very educational presentation on the planets in the dome shaped theatre, followed by a tour of the exhibitation area which featured replicia space craft and satellites. They had to design and make a rocket which was then launched outside fuelled by a special formula rocket fuel!! A trip to the gift shop after lunch concluded the trip before the long journey home.
When asked how they would rate the trip the children awarded it top,top marks -the best day ever.We would like to thank Abbotts for sponsoring this trip and look forward to working with them again in the future.
